MAT
Playing semi professional rugby league and union whilst also studying sports science at Leeds Beckett University led me down a path of sports performance to improve my own game. The passion for coaching took over the passion for playing. Since then I have spent time in numerous elite and developmental sporting environments from rugby, football and track and field to figure out what truly matters for on field performance.
From this experience Transferable Training was born, where we have worked with international rugby union, league and cricket players from both the men’s and women’s game. Consulted with Super League and Premiership rugby teams. Developed elite level academy players who have gone all the way to the top and worked with less mainstream sports who have also gone on to gain international recognition.
about
reconditioning
There is often a blurry line between rehab and performance. We are not physios, and would always suggest clear guidance on a diagnosis and early stage rehab. However, we also feel there is a big gap between the work done with physios and the full intensities of sport.
The first issue we usually see is that true game ‘sharpness’ has not returned and often players lack confidence to accelerate hard, sprint without fear and change direction like they did pre injury. The other issue we often see is repeat injury. The range of movement is back, the strength work has been done, maybe even the power has fully returned but muscles still keep twanging. Injuries leave scars not just physically but also to the brain. Movement strategies often change to protect the injury that has occurred.
Through our extensive assessment process using force plates and video analysis we can will begin to re-educate your movement to take stress and strain off certain muscles and joints and then use our training methods to begin to tell your brain and body that its ok to let rip!
Similar to our performance coaching we like to start with an initial phone call to discuss where you’re at with your return to play journey. What your injury has been, how you’re progressing with it and most importantly how we can help you return to sport at your best. Once we have done our initial assessment our sessions will progress through key landmarks of the return to play process as we tick off general strength and power markers and more specific speed and change of direction skills.
Our facility in Dewsbury has access to gym and 3G facilities where we are able deliver holistic reconditioning for ACLs, hamstrings, groins and much more.

about
performance
We like to start with an initial phone call to discuss your performance goals and how long you’re wanting to work with Transferable Training.
Using our first session to collect some starting metrics, from video analysis, timing gates and force plates we prioritise the areas of improvement and work through our general, specific and speed skill session design to transfer the training into performance. All sessions will be 60-90mins and will be based at our facility in Dewsbury where we have access to gym and 3G facilities.
about
online
With two options available for online training; programme design if you just want access to a monthly programme or programme design and weekly video reviews to organise weekly schedules changes and detailed coaching around your individual programme.
Online training begins with an initial video call to discuss your goals. We can programme for both performance and reconditioning goals and we will test/retest through video and physical assessments to track changes and make sure your training is transferring to your game!
Every programme will contain video links to all the exercises prescribed and I will be contactable on a daily basis to check in for any questions, adaptions and problems you may have. Depending on your package you will be expected to video certain exercises so we can have a weekly video call to go through how your training is progressing and what we can continue to work on. There is no commitment to the training past the four week programme, you can do as little as four weeks or continue to train as long as you need to get the results you want!
